Central and practical stay in Barcelona

On a positive note, TOC Hostel Barcelona offers some great amenities that added convenience to the stay. The dining area in the kitchen was a nice communal space, making it easy to prepare meals and meet other travelers. The availability of strong Wi-Fi throughout the hostel was a huge plus, especially for staying connected or planning activities around the city. Additionally, the option to store luggage with Bounce was super helpful for maximizing my time in Barcelona before and after check-in. These features definitely helped balance the experience!

While my stay at TOC Hostel Barcelona was generally decent, there were a few aspects that could have been improved, primarily due to the nature of shared room lodging rather than the hostel itself. The room felt a bit cramped at times, with limited space for personal belongings, which is common in shared accommodations but impacted comfort somewhat. The location, while central, was often bustling with noise, making it challenging to get a restful sleep. Additionally, while the hostel staff did a good job with cleaning, the shared facilities sometimes fell short of feeling truly clean, likely due to the high turnover in a shared environment. Overall, these are expected issues with shared lodging, but they did affect the experience slightly.

Comfortable and clean stay at prime location

The hostel was comfortable, clean and the location was excellent. The elevators function well and provide quick access to living space, kitchen and laundry room. Kitchen has everything for cooking and a good seating space. There is a separate room for laundry and provides space to dry clothes which makes it very convenient for travellers to think of washing and drying clothes with no hassle. They also provide locker service for luggage at a reasonable price (I used it after check out) so one can go out and explore the city with no stress. Overall really liked the convenience of staying at a prime location (supermarkets, restaurants, cafes and bus/train station nearby) with all basics met. Would recommend it to people who are ok sharing a room with others but can’t compromise on cleanliness.

I have mixed feelings. The location is great, the place looks great, but I was uncomfortable

The location is great. The common areas are also top-notch, I was comfortable working and studying in the lobby and on the outside terrace. Wi-fi works great in the common areas.

However, I will never stay in a hostel in the future where the beds have no curtains. First of all, even with an eye mask, it makes it impossible to block all the light. Also, for the mixed dormitories, it is quite an inconvenience to have no privacy when changing. I was also not a fan of the showers that don't have a single hanger inside the cabin. Maybe that was just our room. Still. How am I supposed to have my toiletries and dry clothes with me? By hanging them outside? In the mixed dorm? Oooookaaay. But it was not comfortable. Also, I was unlucky enough to get a bed with a sagging mattress.

Great location and good value, but just prepare to be woken up because no curtains and floor plan.

This hostel is central to pretty much everything. Space is trendy and generally pleasant and clean. Lockers were spacious and room for a carry-on plus another personal item. The fingerprint security was a plus, so no worries about losing a key. I didn’t avail myself to many of the amenities, but the bar and social areas look nice.

The design of the rooms wasn’t well thought out with the lockers and shower/toilets on opposite ends of the room, which forced people to walk back and forth half a dozen times through the sleeping area when arriving/leaving/dressing. Having curtains on the bunks would also help when people rudely turn on the overhead light at 4am.

The location is very convenient for sightseeing around the city and for taking the bus to the airport.

The communication was a bit confusing. They informed me by message that they could store luggage before check-in without extra cost, but when I arrived, the staff told me they only had lockers available for a fee.
